     Daniel C. Salls was born circa 1837 at New York.1 He was the son of Hix Salls and Mary Permelia Curtis.1 Daniel C. Salls married Priscilla Pottle, daughter of George W. Pottle, on 5 October 1863 at Moira, Franklin Co, New York.2 Daniel C. Salls died on 30 January 1864 at Virginia; Daniel was killed on a railroad freight car between Washington, DC and Alexandria, VA when the train went under a bridge and was carried off the top of the car.1,2
     Daniel Salls enlisted for service 15 May 1861 at Stockholm. He was part of Company H, New York 16th Infantry and was mustered out 22 May 1863 at Albany, New York. He enlisted again 26 Dec 1863 from Lawrence, New York, when he served with Company M, NY 6th Heavy Artillery Regiment. It was only a month later he was killed.3
