Priscilla Pottle1

     Priscilla Pottle was born circa 1847 at Ohio. She was the daughter of George W. Pottle. Priscilla Pottle married Daniel C. Salls, son of Hix Salls and Mary Permelia Curtis, on 5 October 1863 at Moira, Franklin Co, New York.1 Priscilla Pottle married Samuel Sullivan after 1870 at Ohio.
     According to the Salls book, Priscilla claimed no children when she applied for a pension through Daniel Salls. A child Jessie was born 18 Sep 1864 in Dickinson, Franklin Co, Tennessee. The official file indicated some question as to the father of the child. After the end of the war Priscilla went to live with her brother Vespasian Smith Pottle in Dayton, Ohio. It was said she was living as wife to her brother.
Records show that Vespasian Pottle enlisted 13 Aug 1862 at age 15 as a musician in Co. H, Ohio 94th Infantry Regiment, and was mustered out 5 Jun 1865 at Washington, DC. As late as 1896, Vespasian was listed as a paper hanger in the Dayton, Ohio directory, and a pension record lists his widow as Carrie B.1,2 Priscilla Pottle appeared on the census of 3 August 1870 at Dayton, Montgomery Co, Ohio; Minnie P. Salls, 23, b. Ohio, Jessie, 5, b. NY, Vespasian Pottle, 21, b. Ohio.3 As of 3 August 1870, Priscilla Pottle was also known as Minnie P. Salls.3
