He appeared on the census of 1910 at Gastonia, Gaston Co, North Carolina; Edward Hovis, 32, Minnie, 33, Clyde, 3, along with William Harper, bro-in-law, 38, and Ester, 20, sister-in-law. It was William's 2nd marriage and Ester's 1st. Ed and Minnie had been married twelve years with one child.3
