Johann Michael Clar was born circa 1736 at Germany. He was the son of Johann Jakob Clar and Anna Maria Raber. Johann Michael Clar died on 7 December 1817 at Iredell Co, North Carolina.
According to Garland Cloer, Michael Cloer and his five sons, were once in Henry and Pittsylvania Counties of Virginia in the later 180's and 1790's. Evidence shows Michael purchased land on the Mayo River and he and his children were listed in the Poll Tax listing. They came to Lincoln County, North Carolina in or about 1802. He and a few sons appear in several Lincoln County suits there.
Nicholas Cloer's land there was sold at a sheriff's auction in October 1812. Elisha was also mentioned in this suit but nothing about what happened to him. Nicholas bought other land there in 1815-1817, but moved to Iredell County about 1820 when he purchased 300 acres at Island Ford on the Catawba River.
John Cloer (son of Michael) and his family moved from Lincoln County, North Carolina and was in Macon County by 1820.1
