William B. Wood

     William B. Wood was born on 16 January 1836 at Walton, Hants Co, Nova Scotia; a.^2,3,1 He was the son of John Wood and Rachel Brown.¹ William B. Wood married Anna Desire Wood, daughter of Enoch Wood and Priscilla Parker, on 28 May 1857 at Bellingham Church, Chelsea, Suffolk Co, Massachusetts; Anna D. Wood was 17, of Chelsea. William was aged 22, and of Chelsea as well. Record shows he was born in Lubec, Maine and she was born in Nova Scotia.¹ William B. Wood died on 21 December 1889 at Brookline, Norfolk Co, Massachusetts, at age 53; His death certificate indicated his parents were John, born Horton, NS and Rachel, born Walton, NS. He was a resident of Perry Street and had been a carpenter.⁴ He was buried at Walnut Hills Cemetery, Brookline, Norfolk Co, Massachusetts.⁴
     He and Anna Desire Wood appeared on the census of 1865 at Chelsea, Suffolk Co, Massachusetts; William and wife were living with her parents: Enoch Wood, 52, Priscilla, 47, Nehemiah, 19, and Emerline, 17, all born Nova Scotia; William Wood, 30, born Maine; Anna D., 27, born Nova Scotia; William Wood, 1, born Massachusetts.⁵ William B. Wood appeared on the census of 3 June 1870 at Boston, Suffolk Co, Massachusetts; Wm Wood, 36, carpenter, b. Nova Scotia, Anna D., 33, b. Nova Scotia; Wm H., 6, attending school, b. Chelsea, MA; and Arthur B., 2, b. Chelsea, MA.⁶ He appeared on the census of 2 August 1880 at Brookline, Norfolk Co, Massachusetts; William B. Wood, 45, carpenter, born ME, Annie D., 42, born MA; William H., 16, Arthur B., 12, and Annie B., 8, all born MA. The record was not spread wide enough to capture their mother's birthplaces, but both William B., and Annie D., showed fathers born Nova Scotia.⁷
