John Henry Wood

     John Henry Wood was born in January 1851 at Lubec, Washington Co, Maine.^2,1 He was the son of John Wood and Rachel Brown.¹ John Henry Wood married Jane A. Kingsbury, daughter of Gilbert Kingsbury and Hannah Prescott, on 1 January 1871 at Boston, Suffolk Co, Massachusetts; John and Jane were both 20 years old. He was born in Lubec, Maine and she was born in Medway, Mass.³ John Henry Wood married Ruth Brown, daughter of John Brown and Ruth Hancock, on 2 October 1904 at Everett, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; John Wood was 53, widowed, a carpenter and residing at 83 Clark Avenue. Ruth was 31, also widowed, and residing at 40 Poplar.⁴ John Henry Wood married Ida May Sprague, daughter of John H. Sprague and Nancy McGlauflin, on 23 April 1929 at Concord, Merrimack Co, New Hampshire; John H. Wood was 78, widowed, of Pittsfield, NH and Ida M. Bean, 71, was also a widower, and a resident of Westboro, MA. It was the 3rd marriage for each of them.⁵ John Henry Wood died on 25 October 1937 at Pittsfield, Merrimack Co, New Hampshire, at age 86; John was a cabinetmaker, and the cause of death was heart disease. The certificate gave his birthdate as 1 Dec 1856.⁶

ME, 3; and his mother Rachel Wood, b. NS, 69.⁷ He appeared on the census of 4 June 1900 at Chelsea, Suffolk Co, Massachusetts; John H. Wood, 49, Ida M., 28, Charles H., 26, Eddie B., 23, all born Maine and Daisy M. Kemp, 20, housekeeper.² He appeared on the census of 29 April 1910 at Everett, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; John H. Wood, 59, b. Maine; Ruth, 36, b. Canada; Norman K., 3, b. Massachusetts, and May Brown, 39, sister-in-law, b. Canada.⁸ He appeared on the census of 9 April 1930 at Pittsfield, Merrimack Co, New Hampshire; John H. Wood, 79, and wife Ida M., 72.⁹
