Samuel Wood

     Samuel Wood was born on 26 December 1666 at Rowley, Essex Co, Massachusetts.¹ He was the son of Thomas Wood and Ann Hunt.¹ Samuel Wood married Margaret Elithorp on 21 January 1688/89 at Rowley, Essex Co, Massachusetts.² Samuel Wood died on 25 November 1690 at perhaps Port Royal, now Nova Scotia, Canada, at age 23; He was said to have died a soldier "coming from Canady" in The Genealogist article, and other sources seem to point to Port Royal (then Acadia). Many died during the 1690 Canada Expedition, few from combat, as smallpox and marine accidents claimed the majority.^2,1
