     William Acie was born before 18 March 1596 at Kirk Ella, Yorks, England. He was the son of William Acie and Jane Skales. William Acie was baptized on 18 March 1597 at Kirk Ella, Yorks, England. He married Margaret Haiton on 25 March 1620 at Kirk Ella, Yorks, England.1 William Acie died on 30 September 1690 at Rowley, Essex Co, Massachusetts.
     In 1638 William Acey came to the colonies with Rev. Ezekiel Rogers, 24th Pastor of St. Peter's Church, Rowley, located in East Riding of Yorkshire, England, when Rogers organized a company of twenty families from Rowley and nearby towns and sailed on "John of London". They arrived in Salem, Massachusetts in the fall of 1638. The first printing press to be used in the colonies was carried over on the "John" and set up in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The listing for these first families is said to have burned when Pastor Rogers house burned. The list of the passengers on the John of London, leaving Hull England and arriving in Salem, Massachusetts in the fall of 1638 includes: Acy, William Acy, Margaret (Haiton) Acy, Ruth Acy, Elizabeth Acy, John.2
