OBITUARY: Mrs. John Covey -- Mrs. Covey, a well-known and highly esteemed resident of Leeds west, about two miles west of this town, widow of the late John Covey, died at her home at 7 a.m. Sunday with tragic suddenness. She was, to all appearance in her usual health except for what seemed a slight cold when she retired to bed Saturday night and seemed to rest fairly well except for occasionally coughing spells. Early Sunday morning, however, she was taken very ill and a doctor was sent for, but although everything was done to restore her health she became worse until the end came. Deceased was 74 years of age, and had been a resident of this locality all her life and was known to many people, by whom she was held in high regard on account of her many excellent qualities. The funeral was held from the family residence just west of this town Tuesday afternoon and was one of the largest ever seen in the community, showing the esteem in which the deceased was held. The service was conducted by Rev. T. P. Perry pastor of Grace United Church of which the late Mrs. Covey had been a life-long member. The choir led in the singing the hymns. The burial took place at Willowbank Cemetery. The pall-bearers were James Donevan, Edward Flood, Robert Keyes, Joseph B. Dempster, William Reid and Alfred Green. The floral offerings, mute testimonies of sympathy, were numerous and beautiful.2,3 She was buried on 18 September 1928 at Willowbank Cemetery, Gananoque, Leeds Co, Ontario.
