     Marcus Phillips was born on 9 January 1848 at Alburgh, Grand Isle Co, Vermont.1 He was the son of James Marcus Phillips Jr. and Emily Ervin Covey.1 Marcus Phillips married Katherine (?) circa 1887. Marcus Phillips died on 18 March 1930 at Chicago, Cook Co, Illinois, at age 82; The record shows that his father James was b. VT as was his mother, Emily Covey. He had been a building contractor in Chicago.1 He was buried on 21 March 1930 at Forest Home, Chicago, Cook Co, Illinois; He had been residing at 4336 Adams Street.1
