Frederick Patterson Guertin

     Frederick Patterson Guertin was born on 9 December 1877 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.¹ He was the son of Francis Eugene Guertin and Matilda Jane Patterson.¹ Frederick Patterson Guertin married Marie Stevenson at Harris, Iowa.¹ Frederick Patterson Guertin died on 14 July 1945 at Slayton, Minnesota, at age 67; Fred died after a lingering illness of four months. He was one of eight children born to Eugene Guertin Matilda Jane Patterson. The obituary mentioned his father passing in 1923, and his mother in July 1939. He was two years old when he came to Iowa with his parents, "and grew to manhood around Sibley and Hartley." He had married Marie Peterson of Mylo, North Dakota and they had lived there several years, before moving to Harris, Iowa, where they operated a cafe until his wife there in 1927.¹ He was buried on 16 July 1945 at Spirit Lake Cemetery, Spirit Lake, Iowa.¹
