Marie Stevenson

     Marie Stevenson was born on 27 July 1888 at North Dakota.¹ She married Frederick Patterson Guertin, son of Francis Eugene Guertin and Matilda Jane Patterson, at Harris, Iowa.² Marie Stevenson died on 26 January 1927 at Sioux Falls Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at age 38; " Last Tuesday afternoon the remains of Mrs. Fred Guertin was brought here from Sioux Falls, South Dakata and was taken to the John Boyer home. The funeral was held here Wednesday afternoon at the M.E. church conducted by Rev. Hutchins of Harris, ass isted by the pastor Rev. J.J. Shroyer. Burial was made in Silver Lake Cemetery. There was a large attendance of friends and neighbors from Harris and also from here. The guertin family lived here for several yaers, moving to Harris some eight years ago. The news of her death was a shock to her many friends. She had been in poor health for some time and had been at the hospital at Sioux Falls being traeted for anemia, and all that medical skill and care could do was to no avail and she passed away Monday afternoon. Marie Stevenson was born July 27, 1888, and spent her childhood at Mylo, North Dakota, where she was married to Fred Guertin. Later they came to Osceola county, where they resided until they came to Lake Park, going from here to Harris. Mrs. Guertin was a loyal worker in the Royal Neighbor lodge. She was a devoted wife and mother and won many friends by her kindly and friendly manner. She was a good neighbor and friend and will be sorely missed in the home circle. One son, Emery, was born to this union, who with the husband and one brother Conrad Stevenson of Mylo, North Dakota, and a host of friends to mourn her loss. Those from away who attended the funeral were Chris Bluhm, of Laverne, Minn., Mrs and Mrs. Bronson of Sibley and daughter Dorathea, Mr. and Mrs. Attig of Sibley and Alvin Guertin of Sibley.^3,2 She was buried on 2 February 1927 at Silver Lake Cemetery, Lake Park, Dickinson Co, Iowa.¹
