     John W. Patterson was born circa 1838 at Franklin Co, New York.1,2 He was the son of Isaac Patterson and Polly Grostein? John W. Patterson married Maryette Lester, daughter of Enoch Lester, on 11 April 1859 at Franklin Co, New York. John W. Patterson died on 16 January 1902 at Malone, Franklin Co, New York.2 He was buried on 18 January 1902 at Sand Hill Cemetery, Bombay, Franklin Co, New York.2
     He appeared on the census of 3 September 1850 at Franklin, Franklin Co, New York; John W. Patterson was living with Peter Hoose and his first wife, Elizabeth. This may indicate that both of his parents had died between 1840-1850.3
