     James Pickett Payne Lester was born on 17 January 1824 at New Brunswick.1 He was the son of James Gilbert Lester and Martha Bennett Bullock.1 James Pickett Payne Lester married Mary Campbell McDonald on 14 March 1850 at Glasgow, Scotland; James was referenced to as Esquire, Surgeon, of Saint John. Mary was said to be the daughter of John McDonald, Esquire, formerly of Saint John, and she was his only daughter.2 James Pickett Payne Lester died on 16 May 1863 at Kirkpatrick, Durham, Dumfriesshire, Scotland, at age 39.3 He was buried at Glasgow, Scotland.3
