Jane Cathro

     Jane Cathro was born circa 1827.¹ She married David Daley, son of David Daley and Sarah Stanley, on 31 December 1850 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; They were married Sunday evening by Rev. Samuel Robinson. David "Daily" was of Simonds parish and Jane was of St George in Charlotte Co. She was the 2nd daughter of Peter Cathrow.² Jane Cathro died on 31 July 1900 at Pickford, Chippewa Co, Michigan; Her death certificate indicated she had married at age 22, and had nine children, with eight still living. Cause of death was cirrhosis of the liver, which she had for eight months.^3,1 She was buried at Bethel Cemetery, Pickford, Chippewa Co, Michigan.¹
     She and David Daley appeared on the census of 1861 at McGillivary, Huron Co, Ontario; David Daley, 36, Jane, 34, Ann, 10, George, 8, Emily, 6, all born New Brunswick; Alex, 4, Peter, 2, both born in Ontario. The family was Baptist.⁴ Jane Cathro and David Daley appeared on the census of 1871 at McGillivary, Huron Co, Ontario; David Daly, 46, Jane, 44, Annie, 20, George, 19, Emily, 16, John David, 10, Alexander, 14, Judson, 6, Eleanor, 5, Catherine, 2.⁵ Jane Cathro appeared on the census of 1881 at McGillivary, Middlesex Co, Ontario; David Daley, 56, Jane, 55, Alexander, 25, David John, 20, Judson, 17, Eleanor Jane, 15 and Catherine E., 11.⁶ She and David Daley appeared on the census of 4 June 1900 at Pickford, Chippewa Co, Michigan; David Daley, 75, Jane, 72, married 49 years, Catherine E., 24. Jane had nine children, with eight living. They were living next to their son Alexander Daley and his family.⁷
