Elizabeth
de Bohun was born circa 1350 at
England; Elizabeth's parents died when she was young, both were gone by the time she was ten. She became the wife of Sir Richard FitzAlan, by papal dispensation, on 28 September 1359. Richard was one of the wealthiest and powerful lords of his time, Elizabeth enjoyed prestige and privilege as his wife, second only to the Queen, the Duchess of Lancaster, and the Countess of Buckingham. Their marriage bound two of the most powerful families in England together, along with Elizabeth's brother's marriage to Richard's sister.
