     Edmund Crouchback was born on 16 January 1245 at London, England; His nickname, "Crouchback" (meaning 'cross-backed')came from his participation in the Ninth Crusade.1 He married Aveline de Forz on 8 April 1269.2 Edmund Crouchback married Blanche of Artois, daughter of Robert I Count of Artois and Matilda of Brabant, between 28 July 1276 and 29 October 1276 at Paris, France.3 Edmund Crouchback died on 5 June 1296 at age 51.1 He was buried on 15 July 1296 at Westminster Abbey, London, England.2
