Andrew Martin was born circa 1847 at County Down, Ireland.1 He married Martha Jane Bigham, daughter of Andrew Bigham and Ann Stranaghan, on 18 July 1872 at Newry & Mourne District, County Down, Ireland; Andrew was over 21, and lived in Moneygore. Martha Jane was also over 21, and lived in Drumarken. Witnesses wer Joseph Stranaghan and Eliza Spiers.2
Andrew Martin appeared on the census of 1901 at Moneygore, Rathfiland, County Down, Ireland; Andrew Martin, 53, Martha, 53, John, 27, Martha J., 23, Minnie, 22 and Annie, 18. They refused to give information on religion.3 He appeared on the census of 1911 at Moneygore, Rathfryland, County Down, Ireland; Andrew Martin, 64, Martha J., 70, Minnie C. Hanna, 30, Married, along with hher two children, Wilfred J.M. Hanna, 5, and Bertie M., 2. The family was listed as Christian Brethren.1
