     James Erastus Tryon was born on 19 October 1828 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 He was the son of Daniel Tryon and Mary Ann Longeway. James Erastus Tryon was baptized on 29 August 1832 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 He married Alice Letitia Salls, daughter of John Salls and Eunice Curtis, on 10 January 1853 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec. James Erastus Tryon died on 25 July 1897 at Beebe, Stanstead Co, Quebec, at age 68.2 He was buried on 28 July 1897 at Beebe Village Cemetery, Beebe, Stanstead Co, Quebec.2
     He appeared on the census of 1881 at Stanstead, Stanstead Co, Quebec; James Tryon, 49, Alice S., 48, Elsie Trepania, 20, Alice L. Tryon, 7 and Daniel Trepania, 17. They were all born Quebec and were Wesleyan Methodist.3
