Joseph Tryon

     Joseph Tryon was born on 24 April 1819 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.¹ He was the son of Timothy Tryon and Mary M. Longeway. Joseph Tryon was baptized on 26 January 1840 at St Armand, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.² He married Sarah J. James, daughter of John James Sr, before 1850 at prob Essex Co, New York. Joseph Tryon died on 12 April 1893 at Westport, Essex Co, New York, at age 73; Joseph Tryon had been ill for about six weeks and was aged 75 years old. He was survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.³ He was buried on 14 April 1893 at Hoysington Cemetery, Essex Co, New York.³
     He appeared on the census of 10 July 1860 at Westport, Essex Co, New York; Joseph Tryon and wife Sarah J. were both aged 41, Nancy A., 12, Ersellis, 11, Willmuth, 8, John, 4 and William, 4/12.⁴ He appeared on the census of 8 June 1865 at Westport, Essex Co, New York; Joseph Trian, 48, Sarah J., 38, Nancy Brigham, 17, Urcelia, 16, Wilmuth, 12 and Jon, 6.⁵ He appeared on the census of 23 June 1870 at Westport, Essex Co, New York; Joseph Tryon, 51, Sarah, 50, Cornelia, 21, Wilmuth, 19, and John, 13. Joseph was born in Canada, but the rest of his family in New York.⁶ He appeared on the census of 8 June 1875 at Westport, Essex Co, New York; Joseph Tryon, 56, b. Can, Sarah, 56, b. Essex Co, and son John, 18, b. Essex Co. They were enumerated next to Oscar Daniels and his wife Celia.⁷
