Young was born on 27 August 1809 at
Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.

Jacob Young and
Arlotta Covey. Sylvester Young was baptized on 22 September 1809 at
Caldwell's Manor, (now Missisquoi Co), Quebec.

Wealthy Ann Backus, daughter of
Guden Backus and
Lucy (?), on 23 June 1833. Sylvester Young married
Eliza Angier, daughter of
Calvin Angier, in 1842; a History of Westport, no further info available. Sylvester Young died in 1895 at
Westport, Essex Co, New York. He was buried at
Windhams Cemetery, Westport, Essex Co, New York.
According to a history of Westport (Essex Co, NY), Sylvester first came to Westport in 1840, where he "engaged in clearing wood from the land of William Guy Hunter on North Shore". Soon after his marriage to Eliza Angier, they went back to his hometown of Noyan, PQ for a year, then settled in Essex for 6 years, and finally settling back in Westport in 1849. Sylvester Young was known as a "Pathmaster", and was a prominent member of the Congregational Church at Wadhams. He appeared on the census of 1880 at
Westport, Essex Co, New York; Sylvester Young, 70, Eliza, 63, Martha A., 30 and Charles Adolph, 16.
