Isaiah Young

     Isaiah Young was born on 9 June 1833 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.¹ He was the son of Johannes Young and Lydia Ann Covey. Isaiah Young was baptized on 1 March 1846 at St George's Anglican Church, Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.¹ He married Sarah Jane Roberts circa 1857.^2,3 Isaiah Young died on 6 June 1911 at Bemidji, Beltrami Co, Minnesota, at age 77.^2,4
     He appeared on the census of 19 June 1860 at Menasha, Winnebago Co, Wisconsin; Isaiah, wife Sarah, and two children: John and Mary were there, next to his brother Isaac and family. Also nearby was Hiram Taylor and his wife Jane (Scott) and family.⁵ He appeared on the census of 1880 at Stillwater, Washington Co, Minnesota; Isiah Young, 47, Sarah, 45, Minnie, 15, Edward, 13, Ulysses G., 10, Melvin, 23, Lydia Sherwood (dau), 20, and Gertrude Sherwood (niece), 1 month.⁶ He appeared on the census of 12 June 1900 at Woods Twp., Chippewa Co, Minnesota; Isaiah Young, 66 born Canada, Sarah, 65, born Wales; had been married 43 years, had 7 children, 6 living. Isaiah indicated his father was born in Canada, his mother in "Rode Island". Living with them were sons, Edward L., 32, b. WI (Aug 1867), and Ulysses G., 30, b. MN (May 1870). Edward's wife, Gertrude, 17, was there as well.⁷
