     William O. Allen was born circa 1823 at Agawam, Massachusetts.2 He was the son of Alexander Allen.1 William O. Allen married Mary Tryon, daughter of William Tryon and Sarah Scott.3 William O. Allen died on 7 October 1881 at West Springfield, Hampden Co, Massachusetts; The record said he was single, aged 58 years, 1 month, and 9 days. Cause of death was "gastrick" fever.1
     He and Mary Tryon appeared on the census of 6 July 1860 at Moira, Franklin Co, New York; William O. Allen, 37, b. MA and wife Polly Allen, 28, b. Canada, were living in the household with Richard Tryon and his wife Electa.4 William O. Allen appeared on the census of 18 August 1870 at West Springfield, Hampden Co, Massachusetts; William O. Allen, 47, is living with Whitman Allen in Massachusetts. It appears that William and Mary split up before 1870.5
