     Mahala Tryon was born circa 1831 at Moira, Franklin Co, New York.1 She was the daughter of Philander Tryon and Elmira Bryant. Mahala Tryon married Calvin Foote Hale, son of Silas Hale and Clarissa Colton, on 30 January 1855 at Springfield, Hampden Co, Massachusetts; Calvin and Mahala both are listed as residents of Springfield, and he was a blacksmith.2,3 Mahala Tryon died on 15 November 1923 at Rochester, Monroe Co, New York; Mahala died at the home of her son, Clinton Hale, of Rochester, after a lingering illness....She was 92.4 She was buried on 18 November 1923 at Union Cemetery, St Lawrence Co, New York.4
     She appeared on the census of 23 June 1900 at Stockholm, St Lawrence Co, New York; "Mehala" Hale was widowed, aged 68 and living alone.5
