Luther R. Tryon

     Luther R. Tryon was born on 28 February 1837 at Moira, Franklin Co, New York.^1,2,3 He was the son of Philander Tryon and Elmira Bryant. Luther R. Tryon married Helen M. Owen, daughter of Elonson Owen, before 1868.⁴ Luther R. Tryon married Alma J. Phelps on 13 October 1892 at Moira, Franklin Co, New York; Luther Tryon was of St Regis Falls and Alma was of Moira.⁵ Luther R. Tryon died on 8 May 1907 at St Regis Falls, Franklin Co, New York, at age 70; About 1886 Luther moved to Everton where he operated a store for McFarlane & Ross. The following year he was in St. Regis Falls where he co-opened a meat market, and that business grew over the years. He was an enterprising business owner and had an been a postmaster for almost eight years, beginning in 1897.^1,4,2 He was buried on 10 May 1907 at Moira Cemetery, Moira, Franklin Co, New York; The funeral was held from his home in St Regis Falls, with the Rev. C.M. Smith officiating.^6,2
