Myron Monroe Tryon was born in November 1831 at Missisquoi Co, Quebec.2 He was the son of Abel Tryon and Sarah Lewis. Myron Monroe Tryon has also be reported to have been born 7 November 1836 New York The informant at his death, Mrs. Ella Shoebridge, gave his birthplace as New York. He was widowed.1 He has also be reported to have been born 7 November 1837 Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.3 He married Martha Bond on 13 September 1866 at Ionia Co, Michigan.4 Myron Monroe Tryon married Nancy Slater on 3 September 1876 at Bushnell, Montcalm Co, Michigan; Myron was a resident of Evergreen, while Nancy was of Sheridan.5,6 Myron Monroe Tryon died on 12 June 1913 at South Lyon, Oakland Co, Michigan, at age 81; "Mr. Tryon enlisted in the Co. H 60th. New York Volunteers, on Sept. 27th, 1861, for three years, or until the close of the war. He was discharged from Convelescent Camp, Va. in February, 1863. In October of the same year he re-enlisted in the Artillery (heavy) but was transferred to the infantry and served until October 1865. A severe gunshot wound received in the Battle of Cold Harbor resulted in the loss of a limb and total disability..."
Myron was listed as having died at age 75-7-4, and his father being Abel Tryon, birthplace unknown, mother Sarah Lewis, birthplace Canada.1,7 He was buried on 13 June 1913 at South Lyon Cemetery, South Lyon, Oakland Co, New York.1
The "History of Clinton & Franklin Counties" by Hurd (p. 323) lists Myron Tryan from Ellenburgh as a member of the 96th NY Regiment during the Civil War. He was supposedly a private who enrolled 27 Sep 1861 at Ogdensburg, under Capt. James M. Ransom's Company H. Perhaps war records will uncover much needed background on him.
He and his wife Nancy were located at Day township in Montcalm County, Michigan in the 1880 census. They apparently ran a boarding house and his step daughter Ella Renn aged 7 was with them. He appeared on the census of 19 August 1870 at Lyons Twp., Ionia Co, Michigan; Myron Tryon, aged 32, Martha, aged 40, b. NY, along with Emma, aged 15, b. NY and McCrim? [male] aged 12, also b. NY.8 He appeared on the census of 1880 at Day, Montcalm Co, Michigan; Myron M. Tryon was aged 42, born Canada, and his parents were listed as born NY. He was boarding house keeper.9 He appeared on the census of 1 June 1900 at Evergreen Twp, Sheridan, Montcalm Co, Michigan; Myron Tryon, aged 62 and wife Nancy, 64, married 23 years, five children, four still living. Myron said his father was born in CT, mother in VT. Nancy's parents were born in PA.2 In 1903, Mr. Tryon and his family moved to South Lyon, Oakland Co, Michigan and they also had another home in Florida. He had retired and had a granddaughter living with him (this may have been closer to 1912 when the book was published).6
