     John Nelson Derick was born on 16 June 1831 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 He was the son of Jacob Derick and Candace Patterson. John Nelson Derick was baptized on 30 October 1831 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 He married Sarah Minerva Hawley on 8 February 1860 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.2 John Nelson Derick married Helen Frances Young, daughter of John Young Jr. and Margaret Stewart, on 2 February 1873 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.3 John Nelson Derick died on 11 January 1916 at Quebec at age 84.4 He was buried at Union Cemetery, Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.5
