     James Erastus Salls was born on 9 February 1852 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec. He was the son of Benjamin Franklin Salls and Lydia A. Tryon. James Erastus Salls was baptized on 7 February 1853 at Clarenceville Methodist Church, Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 He married Emma M. Powell, daughter of James C. Powell and Louisa M. (?), on 9 December 1874 at Methuen, Essex Co, Massachusetts; James Salls was aged 23 and Emma was 21. He was a milkman, born Derby, Vermont; She was born Lowell.2 James Erastus Salls died on 1 April 1921 at Methuen, Essex Co, Massachusetts, at age 69. He was buried at Old Lowell Cemetery, Lowell, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts.
