Johannes Jacob Brust was baptized on 12 June 1727 at Poppenweiler, Ludwigs District, Württemberg, Germany.1,2 He was born circa 1727 at Poppenweiler, Ludwigs District, Württemberg, Germany. He was the son of Hans Jerg Brust and Anna Maria Netterin. Johannes Jacob Brust married Anna Katherina Wolff, daughter of Hans Adam Wolff and Anna Maria Gotter, after 8 May 1750; Supposedly they married on the ship enroute to America. Johannes Jacob Brust died circa 1807 at Brunswick, Rensselaer Co, New York.3
Jacob Brust supposedly immigrated to America after the death of his father. Records show that Jacob was 23 years old, when he left on 13 April 1750 to go to his aunt, Barbara Netter(in), his mother's sister in Pennsylvania, because she "without heirs". "Barbara was the widow of the late Jacpb Meyer, resident-citizen and blacksmith of Poppenweiler, when she left in 1738 as a member of the family of her brother-in-law, Johann Leonard Weger.

It is said he married on the ship en route, although at this time (1990) this compiler has no evidence of this being factual or documented. As the story goes, after arriving in New York harbor they boarded a sloop for Troy, New York where they spent the winter. The next spring they applied for a land grant from Stephen Van Rensselaer. The yearly rent was a day's work on the roads, "four fat fowle, four saleable bushels of wheat". They were to pay the rent on February 1st of each year in Watervleet. I have been told that upon Jacob's death, the farm was divided among the sons, the house and barn going to his youngest son, George.
Jacob Baumhauer and his wife Lora Weeger were sponsors for Jacob, son of Jacob Brust and Anna Catherina, which may propose at least a homeland connection between the Brusts and the Boomhowers.4,5 As of after 1750, Johannes Jacob Brust was also known as Jacob Brust. He was military "Jacob Prust was a soldier above Poesten Kill in Capt. Abraham Van Aernam's Co in 1767 (Report of the State Historian, Vol II, p.815). in 1767.1 He and Anna Katherina Wolff received Holy Communion on 28 September 1794 at Gilead Lutheran Church, Centre Brunswick, Rensselaer Co, New York.3 Johannes Jacob Brust and Anna Katherina Wolff received Holy Communion on 15 November 1801 at Gilead Lutheran Church, Centre Brunswick, Rensselaer Co, New York.3 Johannes Jacob Brust and Anna Katherina Wolff received Holy Communion on 6 June 1802 at Gilead Lutheran Church, Centre Brunswick, Rensselaer Co, New York.3 Johannes Jacob Brust and Anna Katherina Wolff received Holy Communion on 10 October 1802 at Gilead Lutheran Church, Centre Brunswick, Rensselaer Co, New York.3 Johannes Jacob Brust and Anna Katherina Wolff received Holy Communion on 29 May 1803 at Gilead Lutheran Church, Centre Brunswick, Rensselaer Co, New York.3 Johannes Jacob Brust and Anna Katherina Wolff received Holy Communion on 16 October 1803 at Gilead Lutheran Church, Centre Brunswick, Rensselaer Co, New York.3 This listing of confirmations shows Jacob Brust with frau Eva, and Jacob Brust Jr, listed below. This would mean that Jacob Brust, b. 1727, was gone by this time.3
