Nathaniel Holt was born in 1647 at New Haven, New Haven Co, Connecticut. He was the son of William Holt and Sarah (?). Nathaniel Holt married Rebecca Beebe, daughter of Thomas Beebe and Millicent Ash, on 5 April 1680.1 Nathaniel Holt died on 28 May 1723 at Newport, Newport Co, Rhode Island.
According to Durrie's "History of the Holt family", Nathaniel removed to New London, CT in 1673. He was a sergeant during King Philip's Indian War and was wounded in the shoulder at the Great Swamp fight on 19 December 1675. He worked as a ship carpenter while in New London and he moved to Newport after the death of his first wife.
