Stephen Washburn

     Stephen Washburn was born circa 1781 at Columbia Co, New York. He married Rebecca Wait, daughter of Jonathan Wait and Eleanor (?), circa 1807 at Columbia Co, New York; While I have no real proof that Rebecca married Stephen Washburn, I am listing him as her husband. We do know from Jonathan Wait's Will that Rebecca married a Washburn, and I found Stephen had married a Rebecca in Columbia Co, and she was born about 1783.¹ Stephen Washburn died circa 1859 at Cato, Cayuga Co, New York.² His estate was probated on 6 May 1859 at Cayuga Co, New York; At the time the Will was prbated, Stephen Washburn was a resident of Ira, Cayuga Co, New York. His next of kin were listed as: Sally H. Shoff of Cato, Annjenett Shoff of Ira, James M. Washburn of Illinois, Henry and Martin Washburn of Wisconsin.²
     He left a will on 6 July 1851 at Lysander, Onondaga Co, New York; Stephen was 69 years old when he wrote his Will. He left his wife Rebecca all his personal and real estate as long as she was his widow. He gave his sons James M., $600; Henry, $600, Martin L., $600; To his daus, Sally H. Shoff, $300, Agenett Washburn, $300.
He names Luther Washburn an executor, along with Nathan M. Smith.²
