     James Fleming Young was born on 3 June 1843 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 He was the son of William Stewart Young and Lydia Patterson. James Fleming Young was baptized on 1 March 1846 at St George's Anglican Church, Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 He married Charlotte Mossey on 22 December 1870 at Shaftsbury, Bennington Co, Vermont.2 James Fleming Young married Alice Clara McArdle, daughter of James McArdle and Helen Jones, on 13 January 1885.3 James Fleming Young died on 17 February 1897 at Shaftsbury, Bennington Co, Vermont, at age 53.4
     He appeared on the census of 1880 at Shaftsbury, Bennington Co, Vermont; James F. Young, 37, b. Canada, wife Carrie, 26, b. NY, sons Willis, 8, and Edward, 6 along with father-in-law, Prudo Massey, 68, b. Canada.
