James Albertis Young was born on 22 October 1861 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.¹ He was the son of Abraham Young and Octavia Letourneau. James Albertis Young was baptized on 21 August 1862 at Clarenceville Methodist Church, Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.² He married Mary A. Lavallee.³ James Albertis Young died on 13 March 1944 at age 82; A note to Alex Young, dated 13 Mar 1944, found in his diary, indicated he had received a phone call telling him his father had died that morning.⁴
He appeared on the census of 1901 at Magog, Stanstead Co, Quebec; James A. Young, 39, Mary A., 53, James A., 19, Chester, 16, Laura L., 14, Alexander, 11, and daughter Edna Adsit, 18 with her child, Bertha M., 7 mos.⁵
