Mary Elizabeth Garland was born on 4 February 1824. She married Peter Daniel Longeway, son of Nicholas Longeway and Hannah Rowe, on 1 January 1846 at Russelltown, Huntingdon Co, Quebec. Mary Elizabeth Garland died on 7 February 1901 at Magog, Stanstead Co, Quebec, at age 77.1 She was buried on 10 February 1901 at Fitch Bay Cemetery, Fitch Bay, Stanstead Co, Quebec.1
