     James Covey Longeway was born on 1 December 1821 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 He was the son of Augustus Longeway and Nancy Covey. James Covey Longeway was baptized on 21 January 1822 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 He married Isabella Park Hurst, daughter of John Hurst and Margaret (?), on 18 January 1842 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.2 James Covey Longeway died on 7 August 1871 at age 49. He was buried at Mansonville, Brome Co, Quebec.
     The 1861 census of Sutton indicates that James Covey Longeway and wife Isabel were living with their family next to John Longeway and wife Phoebe Almira Wait and their children. James' children then consisted of James A., John, George E., Margaret, William, Nancy and Thomas.
