     Micajah Sylvester Mandigo was born on 17 September 1835 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec. He was the son of William Copp Mandigo and Catherine Amanda Fadden. Micajah Sylvester Mandigo was baptized on 16 August 1837 at St George's Anglican Church, Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 He married Mary Anne ? (?).
      Micajah Sylvester Mandigo was also known as Sylvester Mandigo. Sylvester Mandigo removed to Sibley County, Minnesota, where he enlisted as a Private on 12 Nov 1862 and served with Company I, 10th Minnesota Infantry Regiment. The unit returned to Ft. Snelling from Mississippi and was mustered out 19 August 1865. Sylvester had been promoted to Sergeant by the end of the war.
The family later removed to New York, and Sylvester filed application #808459 and received an invalid's pension. This was dated 10 July 1890. He must have died ca 1898, as his widow Mary A. Mandigo filed application #613090 and received a widow's pension on Certificate 421267 filed from NY on 27 Apr 1898.2 He appeared on the census of 1881 at Champlain, Clinton Co, New York; Sylvester Mandigo, 42, Mary, 43, Uriah, 21, William, 17, all four b. Canada; Allson, 16, b. MN; and George, 7. b. NY.3
