Warren Arthur Scott

     Warren Arthur Scott was born circa June 1859 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.¹ He was the son of Gilbert Scott and Judith Elizabeth Tryon. Warren Arthur Scott married Florence L. Frye, daughter of Charles Frye and Sarah (?), on 5 July 1884 at Lawrence, Essex Co, Massachusetts; Warren and Florence both gave their ages as 25. He was born Canada and a carpenter and she was born England and a weaver.^2,1 Warren Arthur Scott married Ida Mae Sunbury, daughter of Charles Sunbury and Olive Smith, on 28 December 1921 at Newport, Orleans Co, Vermont; The marriage was announced in the Stanstead Journal, saying that "Warren Scott, a well known resident of North Derby and Mrs. Ida M. Chapman, nurse, lately of Derby Center" were married by Rev. L.A. Edwards.³
     According to family sources, Warren married Daisy ? or a ? Taisy. Have not found anything to verify that.

As for his 2nd marriage to Ida Mae Sunbury Chapman, it's anyone's guess. She was married to a Robert Perkins before 1930 and living in MA. Her obit mentions she was twice married, once to Edwin Chapman, and to Robert Perkins. The marriage to Warren Scott must have been a fleeting moment.⁴ Warren Arthur Scott appeared on the census of 8 June 1900 at Norwich, Chenango Co, New York; Warren A. Scott, 43, born NY, Florence L., 41, b. England; Lena M., 10, and Walter G., 5, both b. NY.¹ He appeared on the census of 1905 at Norwich, Chenango Co, New York; Warren A. Scott, 45, Florence L., 46, Lena M., 15, Walter G., 10, and Harry A., 3.⁵ He appeared on the census of 29 April 1910 at Herkimer, Herkimer Co, New York; Warren A. Scott, 50, Florence, 50, married 25 years, had four children with two living; Walter G., 15, as well as Fred Robinson, 30 and wife Lena M. Robinson, 20.
Warren was enumerated as having been born in New York, as was his father, and his mother was born Connecticut.⁶ He and Judith Elizabeth Tryon appeared on the census of 1921 at Graniteville, Stanstead, Stanstead Co, Quebec; Warren Arthur Scott, 61, widowed, and Judith Elizabeth Scott, his mother, 82, also widowed. They were both Methodist. Warren was a carpenter and earned $1500.
The two were enumerated one family after his son Walter Gilbert Scott and family, and next to his brother Asa Alfred Scott and his wife Cora.⁷ Border crossings show that Warren A. Scott, age 62, crossed to Newport, Vermont on 5 Apr1923. He listed his race as Dutch, born Clarenceville, Quebec. His departure contact was his mother Judith E., and his arrival contact was his stepson, Chester Chapman.⁸
