Familylore following William Patterson (Karin Phillips, Denver, CO, 2000) mentions that several branches of this family points to Dungannon, Tyrone Co, Ireland as their homeland. This seems very reasonable since it is mentioned in "Scotch-Irish Pioneers", p. 194, that in Worcester there were settlers from at least three counties, Londonderry, Donegal and Tyrone, but most were from Tyrone". Karin Phillips has traced her ancestor, William Patterson to Hartford, Connecticutt.
