Nathaniel Merriman was born on 2 June 1613 at Tenterden, Kent Co, England.1 He was the son of Theophilus Merriman and Hannah (?). Nathaniel Merriman married Abigail Olney circa 1649 at England. Nathaniel Merriman married Jane Lines in 1680 at Hadley, Hampshire Co, Massachusetts. Nathaniel Merriman died on 13 February 1694 at Wallingford, New Haven Co, Connecticut, at age 80.
Nathaniel Merriman first settled at New Haven, Connecticut in 1663 and in 1670 was one of the original settlers at Wallingford. In 1675 he was Captain of the Dragoons. From 1669 to 1685 Nathaniel served as deputy to the General Court.
