William Dent was born on 2 November 1829 at Quebec.1 He was the son of Robert Thompson Dent and Mary Covey. William Dent was baptized on 29 August 1832 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.2 He married Lydia M Smith on 27 March 1852.3 William Dent died on 23 September 1864 at Andersonville Prison, Sumter, Sumter Co, Georgia, at age 34.
