Deforest Gibbs was born on 30 April 1840 at New York.¹ He was the son of John Young Gibbs and Adelia A. Steenberge. Deforest Gibbs married Roanna Adelaide Green, daughter of Wallace Green and Mary Sweet, circa 1864.¹ Deforest Gibbs married Marietta Parr circa 1909.¹ Deforest Gibbs died on 31 March 1917 at Bangor, Franklin Co, New York, at age 76.¹ He was buried at Hillside Rest Cemetery, Franklin Co, New York.²
