Supposedly from an obituary in an Athens [Ontario] newspaper: Samuel Covey died at Sherbrooke, Quebec on Friday night, June 23, after a short illness. He had left Athens only a few weeks ago to make cheese in that place and was then in good health. The remains were brought to Athens arriving Sunday forenoon and that afternoon the funeral was held at his home. He was well-known, having lived in Athens the most of his life, and his wife and children have the sympathy of all. Rev. J.J. Cameron conducted the service and the body was placed temporarily in the Athen's vault. He appeared on the census of 1881 at Yonge & Escott Rear, Leeds (South) Co, Ontario; Samuel Covey, 33, Caroline, 27, Maud, 5, Issabella, 3, and James 2/12 (born Feb). Samuel was a Universalist while his family were E. Methodist. All were born in Ontario.1
