Reuben Wait was born circa 1647 at Portsmouth, Newport Co, Rhode Island.1 He was the son of Thomas Wait and Eleanor (?). Reuben Wait married Tabitha Lounders on 2 July 1681.1 Reuben Wait died on 7 October 1707 at Dartmouth, Bristol Co, Massachusetts.1
In 1685, Reuben Wait was one of the founders and proprietors of Dartmouth, Massachusetts. His house is one of the oldest in Dartmouth, and as of 1890, was still standing, known as the "Waite-Potter" house. The earliest part of the house was built in 1669 and escaped the ravages of the King Phillips War. The house remained in the family until 1827.
The Will of Reuben Wait was made on 11 October 1707 and was proved 11 November 1707.
