John
Searle Jr. was born on 3 May 1641 at
Springfield, Hampden Co, Massachusetts. He was the son of
John Searle and
Sarah Baldwin. John Searle Jr. married
Ruth Janes, daughter of
William Janes and
Mary ? (?), on 3 July 1667 at
Northampton, Hampshire Co, Massachusetts. John Searle Jr. married
Mary North, daughter of
John North and
Hannah Bird, on 30 May 1675. John Searle Jr. died on 3 October 1718 at
Easthampton, Hampshire Co, Massachusetts, at age 77.
John Searle removed to Northampton, Massachusetts with his stepfather, Alexander Edwards, and his mother, Sarah Baldwin, when he was fourteen years old. On 4 Nov 1668 John Searle was made a freeman at Northampton, and he took the oath of allegiance there 8 Feb 1678. He signed a petition of citizens to the Governor and Council 4 Nov 1671, and another petition to the General Court of Massachusetts at Boston 31 May 1671. In 1700 John Searle and his family removed to Pascommuck, now known as Easthampton, Massachusetts. He lived on Lot #15, as one of the very first settlers, survived the 1704 massacre, where he lost his only surviving child by his first wife Ruth Janes, and three grandchildren. He died there 1718 in his 78th year.
