Earl William Covey

     Earl William Covey was born on 27 November 1876 at Glenfield, Lewis Co, New York.^1,2 He was the son of Henry Covey and Emma Chase. Earl William Covey married Addie Butts in February 1895 at Scriba, Lewis Co, New York.³ Earl William Covey married Frances H. Alden circa 1923 at Herkimer Co, New York.⁴ Earl William Covey died on 22 August 1952 at age 75.⁵
     He appeared on the census of 21 June 1900 at Webb, Herkimer Co, New York; Earl W. Covey, 24, Addie F., 22, William E., 4, Emma M., 3, Mildred, 10 mos, as well as Esther E. Butts, "s-in-law", 20.² He appeared on the census of 1910 at Webb, Herkimer Co, New York; Earl W. Covey, 35, Addie, 35, married 15 years, had 5 children, all living: William, 13, Emma, 12, Mildred, 10, Sumner, 9, and Henry, 7.⁶ On 12 September 1918, Earl William Covey registered for the draft from Herkimer Co, NY. He wrote he was short, medium build, with blue eyes and brown hair.⁷ He appeared on the census of 29 April 1930 at Webb, Herkimer Co, New York; Earl W. Covey, 53, first married at age 19, Frances H., 40, 1st married at 33, and daughter Mary A., 4. They also two boarders living with them.⁸
