Thomas Danforth

     Thomas Danforth was born on 20 November 1623 at Framlingham, Suffolk Co, England. He died on 5 November 1699 at Cambridge, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts, at age 75.
     Thomas Danforth was a representative in the General Court from Cambridge in 1657-8, assistant 1558-1679, deputy governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony 1679 to 1686, president of the province of Maine during the same time, and was associate justice of Mass Bay's Superior Court from 1692-1699. The Withington article [NEHGR, Vol 74, p. 144] also mentions he was extremely opposed to the infamous witch trials.
