     Ruth Howland was born circa 1646 at Plymouth, Plymouth Co, Massachusetts.1 She was the daughter of John Howland and Elizabeth Tilley. Ruth Howland married Thomas Cushman, son of Thomas Cushman and Mary Allerton, in November 1664 at Plymouth Co, Massachusetts; In 1664/65 Thomas was fined five pounds by the court for carnal behavior "before marriage, but after contract".1
