Heman B. Covey

     Heman B. Covey was born on 29 May 1848 at New York; The census shows May 1847.^1,2 He was the son of George Covey and Nancy McGregor. Heman B. Covey married Margaret R. Denecia. Heman B. Covey died on 10 May 1911 at Belfort, Lewis Co, New York, at age 62; Herman Covey was 63 years old and had died following a long illness. He had lived in Belfort many years and had been a blacksmith. He was survived by children: Delbert of Virginia, Bert Covey of California; Mrs. J. Cone of Canastota; and Mrs. Marion Petrie of Lowville.^3,4 He was buried at Jacox Cemetery, Long Pond Road, Belfort, Lewis Co, New York.³
     He appeared on the census of 23 June 1880 at Croghan, Lewis Co, New York; Herman B. Covey, 34, Margret, 40, Bertha, 14, Ada, 8, Flora, 5, John 12, Walter, 6 mos.⁵ He appeared on the census of 19 June 1900 at Croghan, Lewis Co, New York; Heman B. Covey, 53, Margaret R., 60, married 33 years, had 11 children, only six still living; Also had children Adelbert, 21 and Florence, 16.⁶
