Frederick J. Thompson was born circa 1852 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1,2 He was the son of Timothy Thompson and Matilda Jane Patterson. Frederick J. Thompson married Martha Carpenter, daughter of Charles Carpenter, on 10 November 1875 at Hyde Park, Lamoille Co, Vermont.2
Frederick J. Thompson appeared on the census of 15 June 1880 at Hyde Park, Lamoille Co, Vermont; Frederick Thompson was listed as "brother-in-law" in the household of James Campbell, 25, wife Ella, 18, as well as Marsha Thompson, 22, "sister-in-law", Herbert, 3, nephew, Elva, 2, neice.3
