David Tallman was born circa 1806 at Quebec.1 He was the son of Humphrey Tallman and Patience Allen. David Tallman married Aurilla Smith circa 1843. David Tallman died on 27 January 1883 at Hixton, Jackson Co, Wisconsin.2
He appeared on the census of 1851 at Hemmingford, Beauharnois Co, Quebec; David Talman, farmer, b. Canada. Methodist, 45, Aurilla, b. US, Jane, b. Canada, 9, William, 6, Richard, 3, Catherine, 1, and John Talman, 48.1 The baptisms of David's and Aurilla's children at Russelltown, Quebec in 1858 show the family was then living in Hemmingford, Quebec. The Grantee Index for Clinton County, NY shows that David Tallman was involved in a land deal in 1863 with William Douglas (43-462). The document has not yet been ordered by this writer.3 He appeared on the census of 25 July 1860 at Clinton, Clinton Co, New York; David Tallman, 55, Aurilla, 32, William, 14, Richard, 11, Catherine, 9, Henry, 7, and Samuel, 5. David and the children were all born Canada.4 Land Patent records in Wisconsin show that David Tallman was issued 80 acres in Township 23, North of Range Six West, Jackson County on 10 October 1871.5
